Setup Charges are charged for newly arrived animals.  Setup charges offset costs associated with processing animal orders and setting up new cages, and account for the fact that no per diem is charged on the last day an animal is housed. They also cover the cost of carcass disposal by LAS.  Setup charges are listed separately on monthly billing statements.  Contact LAS for rates.

Special rates are applicable for specialized housing and care.  Contact LAS for special rates.

Mouse quarantine rate is applicable for newly arrived animals shipped from other research institutions or any non-approved vendor. The quarantine rate is also applicable for mice bearing transplantable tumors or cell-lines which have not been approved following extensive screening for rodent pathogens. See the Rutgers  Policy on use of transplantable tumors and cell lines in animals. Animals in quarantine may be subject to additional charges for maintenance and testing of sentinel animals.

Note: Investigators should plan for a minimum 8% - 10% increase annually, with rates increasing on July 1 in the future.  The actual increase for July 2012 was only 1%.
