TRAINING CLASSES: ANIMAL USE IN RESEARCH - REGULATIONS AND PROTOCOLS

ORIENTATION TO ANIMAL CARE AND USE AT RUTGERS

For all animal users, from Principal Investigators to technicians.

NEW!!  Online training now available for Orientation to Animal Care and Use at RutgersThe same exciting course is now available online. You must be registered on the ACFC Protocol Submission Website. Click on "Orientation Training".  Further instructions available (soon) on the website.

The Animal Care and Facilities Committee has determined that in order to be in compliance with Federal regulations and accreditation requirements, that it is appropriate for a required education program to be implemented. The course (approximately one and a half hours) is based largely on the federal Office of Laboratory Animal Welfare’s requirement of having all staff exposed to training of regulatory requirements for animal welfare with occupational and safety considerations. The actual protocol form will be tied into the presentation to provide some good practical information. Faculty, technicians, post docs, students, grad students, and others who are listed as working with animals on the protocols are required to take the course. Undergraduate students who work on special animal projects must also take the course. For your convenience the course will offered by Laboratory Animal Services at least twice a month. While an approval date will be given once the person takes the course, there will be no expiration date at this time. At this point it is a one time only session - but we want to leave it open ended just in case requirements change.

This seminar is a prerequisite for all other courses listed below.
